Jane Eyre (1997)
Subject of numerous adaptations, Charlotte Bronte's masterpiece Jane Eyre continues to have an enduring appeal even after two centuries since its publication. This special adaptation has been grossly underestimated and overlooked. Starring Ciaran Hinds as the enigmatic Mr Rochester and academy award nominated Samantha Morton as the eponymous heroine Jane Eyre, this tv movie retains much of Charlotte's autentic and portrays characters as well as it can in one and a half hours. Samantha's portrayal of Jane has been considered the finest and most true to the Charlotte's Jane; and Ciaran's Rochester perfectly embodies the rugged charm and native pith that Charlotte writes of him in the novel.
