Ah, voi sănii, sănii!
Serghei Esenin

Ah, voi sănii, sănii! Şi voi cai, voi cai!
Numai dracul v-a scornit, mişelul!
Peste stepă-n goană cu alai,
Rîde pîn’ la lacrimi clopoţelul.

Pretutindeni, prin pustiuri reci
Lună nu-i, nici glas de cîini, nici ceaţă.
Încă n-am îmbătrînit pe veci,
Hai, dă-ţi suflet, viaţa mea-ndrăzneaţă.

Cîntă-n spargul nopţii, vizitiu,
Te-nsoţesc de vrei, dar cu tristeţe,
Despre ochii umezi care-i ştiu
Şi despre voioasa-mi tinereţe.

Pălăria mi-o pleoşteam ades,
Puneam calul între hlube late,
M-aşezam pe-un braţ de fîn ales,
Şi pe urmă, ţine-te, măi frate!

Cum mă mai împăunam, zburînd!
Şi-n tăcerea nopţilor stufoase,
Gureşa-mi harmonică oricînd
Sucea capul fetelor frumoase.

…Totu-i dus. Fugarul a pierit.
S-a schimbat şi părul meu şi glasul.
De prea mult voios pălăvrăgit
Şi-a pierdut harmonica mea glasul.

Sufletul mi-i totuşi plin de rost,
Gerul şi zăpada-mi saltă ţelul,
Fiindcă peste toate cîte-au fost
Rîde pîn’ la lacrimi clopoţelul…

Parfum de smirnă şi de plante-adie blând!
Ce dulce cântă undele sub mal, spumoase,
Ce liniştit zefirul-adie fremătând
Prin crengi de sălcii mlădioase!

Vospominanye (Recollection) - english version
poem by Vasili Jukovsky

Gone are you, the days of charm!
Like you My heart will never!
Your mark in the pangs of recollection!
Ah! better if you just forget me!

For you often rushes habitual desire -
And tears of love stop!
Misfortune - of your memory!
But more bad luck - you forget it!

Oh, you grief, by replacing hopes and expectations!
My joy - tears for the happy!
I'll die from memories!
But can I survive - alas! and forget!

Катюша (Russian Lyrics):

Katyusha Lyrics (English translation):

Blossom of apple and pear
Floated mists over the river.
Сome ashore Katyusha,
On the high bank on the steep.

She was walking, singing a song
About steppe, dove-colored eagle,
Of the one she loved,
Of the one whose letters she was keeping.

Oh, you, song, song of a maiden
Head for the bright sun.
And the soldier on faraway border
From Katyusha bring a greeting.

Let him remember an ordinary girl,
Let him hear how she sings,
Let him preserve the Motherland,
And love Katyusha will keep strong.
